Encourage One Another
Have you ever desired some encouragement? I know I have, especially for new endeavors. There are times when I sought encouragement and not received it. We need to remind ourselves that God speaks to each of us differently, therefore it is not meant for others to understand. Even though your aspirations are following God’s will for your life, you cannot expect others to understand this, for the Lord has gifted you as an individual in a unique way. Romans 12:6 states “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” We then unite these singular gifts to help others.
There have been times I wish I had been more encouraging to others. We are not in competition, nor do we stand in judgment of one another. We are all one in the body of Christ, called to lift each other up. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul implores us to “…encourage one another and build each other up…”.
There are times we don’t understand God’s will for us. He may (and probably will!) lead us to do something we are not confident in. During these times, we must trust in Him. Rather than leaning on others for understanding or clarity, look to the Lord. There have been times the Lord led me to do something, and I asked, “Why me, Lord?”. I came across the following verse while seeking answers in my Bible. As I read it, I wept. John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit- fruit that will last-and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. “
It has, and continues to strengthen me and reminds me of His love, and the trust I have in Him. Perhaps this verse will provide you with the same reassurance.
